Melissa Dunn’s Edges, Corners, Trees is a presentation of work created in and around her six-month @HOME Residency. The exhibition showcases a deeply personal exploration of quietness, studio rhythms, and the intersections of Dunn’s home and artistic practice. By presenting her work in the nooks and crannies of her home — extensions of her studio space — Dunn invites viewers into her introspective process. The exhibition highlights her dedication to abstraction as a means of storytelling where shapes and colors carry the weight of both fleeting thoughts and lifelong narratives.
Dunn reflects, “More and more I’m living life in quiet. Driving in quiet. Walking in quiet. Making art in quiet. When I turn down the noise and find my way back to a true north is when I find that I take more chances with my work.” This intentional quietness and focus permeate the works presented in Edges, Corners, Trees offering a subversive act of attention and care amid the noise of contemporary life.

@HOME RESIDENCY
studioELL’s @HOME Residency is a bi-annual artist residency program that offers artists the unique opportunity to immerse themselves in their own studio environments while benefiting from critique and support provided by visiting artists and the studioELL team. Designed to provide a balance of independence and community, the residency emphasizes the artist’s creative process, discoveries and research.
Each resident artist shares weekly progress on studioELL.org, offering audiences an intimate glimpse into their studio practice. The residency culminates in a final exhibition and artist lecture, providing a platform to reflect on the artistic journey and present the work created during the residency.
Launched in 2022 with inaugural resident Tracy Holtham and followed in 2024 by Melissa Dunn, the @HOME Residency continues to evolve as a celebrated program that champions the studio practice and artistic exploration.
